Leapmotor (HKEX: 9863) said Friday that the 100,000th production unit of its A10 compact electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) had rolled off the assembly line.
The milestone came 135 days after the model's launch, making it the fastest Leapmotor model to reach cumulative production of 100,000 units, the company said.
The Stellantis NV (NYSE: STLA)-backed Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker added that the A10 also set a record as the fastest SUV priced below 100,000 yuan to reach cumulative sales of 100,000 units.
The A10 was launched in China on March 26 with 4 variants priced from 65,800 yuan ($9,690) to 86,800 yuan. The highest-priced version is equipped with LiDAR, a rare feature in this price range.
Deliveries of the model have ramped up rapidly. The A10 saw 14,372 units delivered in April, rising to 23,011 in May, and further increasing to 26,804 in June, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In July, the A10 set a record with 28,593 units delivered, accounting for 28.24% of Leapmotor's monthly deliveries.
The A10 is a 5-seat compact battery electric SUV measuring 4,270 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,605 mm.
It is powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 90 kW and is available with 39.8-kWh and 53-kWh battery packs, providing CLTC ranges of 403 km and 505 km, respectively.
Smart technology is a key selling point for the low-cost model. The A10 uses Qualcomm's SA8155 cockpit chip and SA8650 driver-assistance chip, while the top variant is equipped with LiDAR and supports assisted driving on urban roads and highways.
The model competes directly in China with the BYD (HKEX: 1211) Yuan Up and the Geely Auto (HKEX: 0175) Xingyuan.
The A10 is also the first model based on Leapmotor's new A platform and has been assigned a role in the company's global expansion.
Its overseas version, called the B03X, began taking orders in Europe in early July with a starting price of 24,900 euros, more than double the price of the highest-priced A10 variant in China.
Leapmotor said on Weibo that its A-series product offensive would continue, with the A05 set to be launched soon.
The A05 compact hatchback, positioned as an urban commuter vehicle, will be launched on August 10 and offer a maximum range of 510 km.
The rapid roll-out of new models is crucial to Leapmotor's effort to meet its full-year target. The company delivered 101,267 vehicles globally in July, surpassing 100,000 monthly deliveries for the first time and representing a year-on-year increase of 102.01%.
However, cumulative deliveries in the first 7 months reached 457,754 units, or only about 46% of its 2026 target of 1 million vehicles. Leapmotor needs to deliver an average of more than 108,000 vehicles per month during the remaining 5 months.
Management previously projected that new models, including the A10, would contribute 60% of the company's total sales in 2026.
