Toyota recalls 121,260 bZ3X and bZ7 electric vehicles over suspension, braking and steering defects in China. The post Toyota recalls 176,737 vehicles in China: bZ EVs, Land Cruiser Prado and Lexus GX hit by defects appeared first on CarNewsChina.com .

Toyota is recalling 121,260 bZ3X electric SUVs and bZ7 sedans in China over three defects involving front suspension fasteners, braking software and steering assistance, according to Y-Auto.
China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) published the notices on November 4, 2026, covering 100,175 bZ3X SUVs and 21,085 bZ7 sedans. A separate campaign covers 55,477 Land Cruiser Prado and Lexus GX 550h hybrid SUVs over a fuel-line connection defect.
Toyota bZ3X recall covers 100,175 electric SUVs
Filing S2026M0124V covers 100,175 bZ3X SUVs manufactured between February 27, 2025, and March 26, 2026.
According to SAMR, the nuts securing the front suspension stabiliser bar links may have insufficient axial clamping force. They could loosen during driving, causing abnormal noises or, in extreme cases, detach, potentially affecting vehicle stability. GAC Toyota will replace the affected nuts free of charge.
Launched in March 2025, the bZ3X was developed with Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) as part of Toyota’s shift toward locally directed EV development.

Toyota bZ7 faces braking and steering software recalls
Two bZ7 recall notices cover the remaining 21,085 vehicles.
Filing S2026M0125V covers 18,130 vehicles produced between October 28, 2025, and August 3, 2026. Its Comfort Stop (CST) software may restrict braking-force output under certain low-speed conditions, increasing stopping distances and collision risk.
Filing S2026M0126V affects 2,955 vehicles manufactured between March 10 and May 15, 2026. A software issue involving the front recognition camera during an over-the-air (OTA) update could cause unintended steering wheel movement when Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA) is activated.
GAC Toyota will address both defects through free software updates.
The recalls follow a separate July 2026 bZ7 campaign involving approximately 24,000 vehicles over software faults affecting the smart Bluetooth module and thermal management controller.
Toyota consolidated engineers from three Chinese R&D operations under its Intelligent ElectroMobility R&D Centre by Toyota (IEM by Toyota) in 2023 to accelerate local electrification and intelligent-driving development. The bZ3X and bZ7 are products of this localisation strategy, although the latest recalls do not establish a link between the development approach and the defects.

Prado and Lexus GX 550h face fuel-line recall
A separate campaign covers 47,347 China-produced Land Cruiser Prado hybrids and 8,130 imported Lexus GX 550h hybrids. The affected vehicles were manufactured between July 2024 and October 2026, with SAMR filings S2026M0133I and S2026M0134I specifying individual production periods.
External force could lift the fuel-line quick-connector retainers, potentially allowing an impact to detach the fuel line and cause leakage. Unlike the GAC Toyota EV recalls, this campaign followed a defect investigation initiated by SAMR.
Dealers will inspect the connectors, install protective cover plates and replace affected fuel-line assemblies where necessary.
The Chinese recall comes alongside separate Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid fuel-system campaigns in North America, covering approximately 106,000 vehicles in the United States and 6,721 in Canada. Although the reported risks are similar, the notices do not establish that the Chinese and North American campaigns involve identical components.
