GAC Aion has officially announced that its latest model, the Ray 7, will hit the market on November 12. The vehicle, which began pre-sales on October 17, is available in five distinct configurations with a pre-sale price range of 128,800 yuan (19,200 USD) to 158,800 yuan (23,700 USD).
The announcement comes alongside strong performance figures for the brand, with GAC Aion reporting 42,357 units sold in October 2026, marking a 56.79% year-over-year increase and a 19.33% month-over-month growth.
Design
The Ray 7 features a new design language characterised by a dynamic fastback silhouette. The front fascia adopts the “Quantum Star Ring” design, highlighted by a full-width light bar and an illuminated brand logo. The lower bumper incorporates large air intakes, complemented by side air ducts. The vehicle achieves a drag coefficient of 0.22.
The sedan measures 4,960 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,455 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. The side profile is accentuated by semi-hidden door handles, dual five-spoke wheels, and eye-catching yellow brake callipers. The rear design mirrors the front with a full-width taillight assembly and “AION” branding.

Intelligent driving and interior
The Ray 7 is equipped with an intelligent driving assistance system featuring 27 automotive-grade sensors, including a Huawei 192-line LiDAR and three 4D millimetre-wave radars. Powered by a model derived from WeRide’s L4-level Robotaxi technology, the system is designed to navigate complex urban environments, while also supporting advanced features like automated parking and gate navigation.
Inside, the cabin features a digital instrument cluster and a large floating central touchscreen. The interior includes a multi-function three-spoke steering wheel, integrated sports seats, and amenities such as wireless smartphone charging and dual cup holders.
Powertrain and battery
The Ray 7 utilises a “Super Electric” powertrain, integrating the Huawei DriveONE multi-in-one electric drive system with GAC’s 28-in-1 thermal management module. This efficiency allows for a CLTC-rated power consumption of just 9.7 kWh per 100 km and a total CLTC range of 702 km (~569 km WLTP).
The Ray 7 is available with two different driving ranges. The version with a CLTC range of 530 km (~429 km WLTP) uses GAC’s Inpow cells, while the 702 km (~569 km WLTP) version uses CATL cells. Both are lithium iron phosphate batteries.
