The Jetta M6 electric sedan from the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture revealed interior in China with a double-bed configuration, unusual for the segment. This 4.8-meter car with up to 194 hp will enter the market shortly as Volkswagen aims to solidify its positions in the Chinese EV market.
Jetta was launched as an independent brand under the FAW-Volkswagen umbrella in 2019, focusing on cheap petrol-powered cars for the Chinese market. This year, Jetta announced the transition into the electric car segment at the Beijing Auto Show, revealing the Jetta X concept SUV. Soon, the Jetta M6 sedan will enter the market as the brand’s first mass-produced EV.
The interior of the Jetta M6 looks generic at first sight, offering minimalistic styling without physical buttons. It has a large floating touchscreen and a small LCD cluster in the dashboard. The gear shifter sits behind the two-spoke double-D-shaped steering wheel. The center tunnel offers a wireless phone charger, two cup holders, and a hidden compartment.
Door cards of the Jetta M6 boast funky lever-like interior door handles, similar to many China-made Volkswagen models. Other highlights include a curved upper part made of soft plastic and chrome-plated speaker covers. The car’s seats are wrapped in perforated leatherette. The M6 EV adopts a large panoramic roof. Its second row has no central armrest, highlighting that even the top-trim Jetta M6 is a mainstream car.
However, the Jetta M6 offers a surprising feature, which is a double-bed configuration for the rear seats. The car’s front seats can be completely folded flat, forming two rest areas. Usually, this feature is offered by some large high-end crossovers that are being promoted as capable vehicles for outdoor activities. However, Jetta suddenly integrated this configuration in an affordable sedan for urban commutes. It would be interesting to track the actual user experience of such a feature.
The dimensions of the Jetta M6 are 4806/1868/1500 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. It is 26 mm longer than the Xpeng Mona M03 sedan. The Jetta M6 comes standard with a single electric motor for 113 kW (152 hp). The car’s top speed is limited to 166 km/h. A more powerful variant adopts a 145 kW (194 hp) e-motor. Its top speed reaches 172 km/h. The curb weight of this electric sedan lies between 1,557 and 1,628 kg. Battery specs of the M6 have yet to be revealed.
Jetta experienced a sales decline, as the local market’s ICE share has seemingly shrunk in recent years. According to China EV DataTracker, Jetta delivered 47,811 vehicles (ICE) in H1 2026, down 13.1% Year-Over-Year.
