The next-generation BYD Han sedan has been spotted in China. Spy shots show a continuation of the Dragon Face design, along with a roof-mounted LiDAR unit hinting at advanced assisted-driving capabilities. It is expected to offer EV and PHEV powertrains and will retail at 200,000 yuan (29,900 USD).
What’s new with the Han
With a flurry of facelifts and refreshes from BYD and other Chinese NEV automakers, it is difficult to pinpoint the specific iterations and generations of each model. Chinese sources, though, claim the spied car is the third-generation Han sedan.
It’s expected to be positioned below the Han L, which itself sits under the flagship Da Han, also known as the great Han. The new Han is supposed to act as the entry-level model in the Han lineup, continuing the positioning of the current Han sedan.
Images show the new Han with familiar design cues, featuring a typical taillight bar and a Dragon Face front fascia. Its interior doesn’t stray far from other BYDs either, with a minimalist white interior, a centre-mounted infotainment screen, and a row of physical buttons on the centre console.
Expected specs
Chinese sources predict that the new Han will enter the market at the 200,000 yuan (29,900 USD) mark. At this price point, the sedan is expected to offer BYD’s hallmark features, such as the second-gen Blade Battery and Flash Charging for both EV and PHEV trims.
The single roof-mounted LiDAR unit hints at the inclusion of the DiPilot 300 (God’s Eye B) assisted driving system (ADS). Still, it’s unclear if it will be offered with additional side-mounted LiDAR units. BYD’s current flagship ADS, DiPilot 600, features a sensor suite with three LiDAR units.
As for active suspension, the new Han is expected to offer BYD’s DiSus-C and DiSus-A systems. The former features active adjustable damping, while the latter adds air suspension with height and attitude adjustability.
More on the Han
The current Han retails for 168,800 – 225,800 yuan (25,200 – 33,700 USD) in China. Its dimensions are 4995/1910/1495 mm, with a 2,920 mm wheelbase. Chassis-wise, it features front McPherson struts and five-bar multi-link rear suspension.
According to China EV DataTracker, BYD delivered 2,997 Han units domestically in China in August 2026. Sales have slumped significantly since the start of 2026, after China gradually phased out NEV subsidies in late 2025.
A refresh with a new look and better specs may be what the Han needs to boost its sales figures again.
